should custom PBS be allowed in C4 Madden leagueplay?

I understand both sides to the arguements... But IMHO I see no reason to allow them seeing how tournaments aren't going to allow them so we shouldn't...

Just doing a poll to see what other league participants think...

I say no but I feel for the future whether it be madden 13 or whatever we could have 2 leagues like one for custom and one for tourney rules without custom or some other way to work around and for people that want to use custom books

Anyone that posts a serious poll on here should have voters choices be private; this is how you get authentic poll results. People will not be pressured to vote one way or another.


There will not be a final ruling on this until we have the actual game in our hands, confirm some things in it, and see exactly how custom playbooks will be handled in tournament play.


I will say this though ...

I think it's slightly hippocritical that certain people lobbied hard to have custom playbooks allowed in NCAA, but for some reason, it's not ok for use in Madden. Whatever ruling we decide on regarding Madden custom playbooks will also apply for NCAA in the future too.


Keep voting, and keep discussing though; interesting to see what people think about this issue ...

I didnt see as much variation in the few games I played on ncaa. So maddenwise, everyone might as well use the same books.

I'd be down to show my opponent what book im usin if it meant not having cst books.

I'll admit. I lobbied for custom books in NCAA:

1. It's our offseason; let us have a little fun/creativity.
2. There's no major tournament community for NCAA. Therefore, why impose a rule if there's no consistent tournament play with these same rules. FWIW, the only tournament I know of banned them.
3. I thought maybe the players in the league were responsible enough to do a little work, put in a little elbow grease, etc...but nah. Apparently allowing a custom book is more incentive to be lazy. I just don't get it.

In Madden, C4 (and it's predecessor) has always modeled itself off the tournament community; imposing the same rules. QB Draw glitches were banned in tournies...likewise in C4. Spy blitzing in tournies was banned, likewise in C4.

1. It's a given that these will be banned in tournament play for Madden 12, so why wouldn't they be in C4?

I was a major supporter of custom books in Madden until I saw how they were used in NCAA. I would have never guessed that the level of creativity would go DOWN with the implementation of custom books. NCAA was literally EVERYONE running the same 3-4 formations with EVERYONE adding that day's hottest trend. I mean the games been out three weeks and we got guys (notice the plural, Fuji) running 6-7 different offenses from other players. If this goes down in Madden, it's going to be a long and boring year.

And if the game is anything like the demo, Madden's replayability will already be terrible upon release, let alone 95% of the community running the SAME 1 OFFENSE, instead of in past years where 95% of the community ran 1 of 3-5 popular offenses.
